The Fall Bucket List Every Family Needs
There’s something about fall that makes me slow down and pay attention. The air gets crisp, football is on the TV, the kids come home with red cheeks and muddy shoes, and suddenly life feels a little more golden.
But here’s the thing: fall always sneaks by too fast. One minute we’re buying pumpkins, the next minute we’re digging out Christmas lights. That’s why our family made a Fall Bucket List — a simple way to make sure we actually enjoy the season instead of watching it fly past.
⸻
Our Fall Bucket List
1. Go Apple Picking — Bonus points if you press your own cider.
2. Have a Backyard Bonfire — Nothing beats s’mores under the stars.
3. Make Chili Night a Tradition — Everyone’s favorite comfort food.
4. Pumpkin Carving Contest — Loser cleans up the seeds.
5. Sunday Football + Snacks — Jerseys on, dips out.
6. Take a Scenic Drive — Roll the windows down and chase the leaves.
7. Bake Something Spiced — Apple crisp, pumpkin bread, cinnamon rolls.
8. Family Movie Night — Blanket fort + popcorn.
9. Visit a Local Farm or Festival — Corn mazes, hayrides, cider donuts.
10. Go on a Leaf Hunt — See who can find the biggest, brightest, or weirdest leaf and make a mini display.
⸻
Why It Works
The bucket list isn’t about adding pressure. It’s about making sure we pause long enough to soak in the moments that make fall, well… fall.
For us, it’s turned into a family ritual. The kids get excited to check things off. My wife and I get to look back and say, “Yeah, we actually did fall this year.” And when life feels chaotic, the list reminds us that simple joys are what stick.
⸻
Make Your Own
Grab a piece of paper or a chalkboard in your kitchen. Jot down 10 things that make your family feel cozy, connected, and alive. Keep it where everyone can see it. Check things off as you go.
And if you try it, tag me — I want to see your version.
⸻
If this made you smile, share it with a friend who needs to slow down this fall. Let’s make the season last.
